Poroshenko: Kyiv to maintain dialogue with Donbas after fair elections
Kyiv's dialogue with Donbas is possible only after fair elections are conducted there, and this will be a dialogue with a Ukrainian Donbas, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
"We must ensure fair and transparent expression of the people's will, and we will maintain dialogue with Donbas, but this will be a different Donbas – a Ukrainian Donbas, after holding fair elections," Poroshenko said at the outset of the 8th Kyiv Security Forum on Thursday.
The Ukrainian leadership "will pursue the process of the country's decentralization, including through constitutional amendments," he said.
"We will be pursuing efficient reforms ensuring economic growth, and we will be resolutely combating corruption. We will be building an independent judicial branch, where everyone will be able to find protection of their rights from violation. We will be pursuing a program of de-oligarchization, and we will resolutely de-monopolize the country," he said.
