Poroshenko: Regaining border control by Ukraine is key factor in conflict de-escalation
There is no internal conflict in Ukraine; on the contrary, "the country is united in its determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
In visiting a border guard garrison in Bortnychi neighborhood in Kyiv on Thursday, when Ukraine marks Border Guard Day, Poroshenko said he was convinced that the restoration of Ukraine's control over its border is a key factor in de-escalating the conflict in Donbas.
"I've always said that we need two things: sealing the border and having all foreign troops removed from Ukrainian territory," Poroshenko said.
