Overnight shelling disrupts power, gas supplies in Stanytsia Luhanska - Moskal
Militants opened fire on Stanytsia Luhanska and its suburbs last night, head of Luhansk Region Military and Civilian Administration Hennadiy Moskal has said.
"Two residential buildings were hit by mortar shells and burned up in Stanytsia, and power lines and a low-pressure gas pipeline were damaged on a number of streets. As of this morning, power and gas supplies were disrupted in some areas of the town," says a report posted on the Moskal website on Monday.
The villages of Artema and Valuiske came under an artillery attack, and the district center was shelled by mortars, grenade launchers and small arms, Moskal said. "Intense gunfire lasted all through the night," he said.
According to tentative reports, civilians have not asked for medical aid, and possible casualties amongst servicemen are being verified.
The town was quiet in the morning. Repairmen have begun to clean up the damage.
