Rada plans to postpone some requirements of PGO law until early 2016
The Ukrainian parliament plans to postpone the introduction of the requirements of the law on Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) regarding the appointment of the specialized anticorruption prosecutor and his deputies, and the new procedure for selecting, appointing and dismissing prosecutors, until January 1, 2016.
A total of 265 lawmakers supported the draft law at first reading on Thursday.
The draft law on postponement proposes that amendments concerning the harmonization of the requirements on the procedure for appointing to administrative posts in the PGO system will be made.
It is proposed that the number of deputies of heads of regional and local prosecutor general's offices will be defined depending on the necessity of their appointment, but no more than three deputies for the regional prosecutor, and no more than two for the local prosecutor will be permitted.
