Ukraine's president, Canada's PM discuss Donbas by telephone
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper in a telephone conversation on May 20 discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine and the ongoing need to confront Russia's continuing aggression.
President Poroshenko thanked Canada for the financial and material support provided to Ukraine in recent months, including Canada's participation in upcoming military training exercises, president's press service said.
Both leaders agreed that the Putin regime's aggression must be met with continued resolve, including the application of economic sanctions and the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
For his part, Harper reiterated Canada's strong and ongoing support for Ukraine and encouraged the president in his ongoing efforts to fight corruption.
The interlocutors coordinated their actions ahead of G7 meeting in Germany in June.
Besides, Harper accepted Poroshenko's invitation to pay a visit to Kyiv in the near future.
