Poroshenko does not trust Putin, expects pro-Russian offensive in summer
Ukraine is preparing for the possibility of a new offensive by pro-Russian forces in the summer, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"I believe they are preparing an offensive and I think we should be ready and I think that we do not give them any tiny chance for provocation. That will totally be their responsibility," Poroshenko said in an interview with the BBC.
Poroshenko said that he did not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, he reiterated his previous statements that Kyiv was not going to take back the uncontrolled territories in eastern Ukraine by military means.
Poroshenko added that he was happy with the assurances that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry gave to him after his meeting with Putin in Sochi.
