Rada demands that Russia stops violating rights of Crimean Tatars, calls on global community to condemn violations
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a resolution appealing to the United Nations, European Parliament, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, world leaders and all the members of international community to condemn the violation of the rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatars.
All in all, 247 lawmakers voted for respective draft resolution No. 2821 at a parliamentary sitting on Thursday.
The resolution demands that Russia stops violating human rights in Crimea and also calls on the international community to condemn the deportation of Crimean Tatars from the peninsula in 1944, and to protect them from ongoing discrimination.
