Kyiv expecting Riga summit to confirm Ukraine's European prospects, visa-free travel
Ukraine is expecting the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga to confirm its European integration prospect, the eventual visa-free travel regime and EU assistance to the fulfillment of the Association Agreement, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.
Speaking at a press conference with Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende in Kyiv on Tuesday, Klimkin said he was counting on tangible results of the Riga summit scheduled for May 21. "The Riga summit should not be an unimportant event, a gathering where everyone says they are ready to continue their work," the minister said.
"To us, the Riga summit should be a major event, not just an 'element' demonstrating that the Eastern Partnership works," Klimkin said.
