Ukraine to be key topic of Putin-Merkel talks on May 10
The settlement of the Ukraine crisis will be a key topic at Russian President Vladimir Putin's negotiations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on May 10, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov told journalists.
"Naturally, the situation in Ukraine will be among the principal topics of the negotiations with the German chancellor," Ushakov said.
Russia and Germany "stand up for the strict observance of the Minsk agreements by Kyiv and the southeastern regions of Ukraine," he said.
Moscow expects the upcoming meeting between the two leaders "to promote Russian-German interstate cooperation in various fields," he said.
Russia and Germany are actively developing cultural-humanitarian contacts, Ushakov said. In particular, Moscow and Berlin plan to hold ceremonies in June to end the Year of German Language and Literature in Russia and Year of Russian Language and Literature in Germany, which began in 2014.
