Mogherini not to attend EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv due to engagement with UN
European Union's diplomacy chief Federica Mogherini reported on Sunday that she won't be able to take part in the EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv on April 27, due to a commitment with UN secretary.
"I spoke today to Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin ahead of tomorrow's summit between the European Union and Ukraine in Kyiv. We discussed the issues on the agenda, including the ongoing reform process as well as the situation in eastern Ukraine. I expressed my most sincere apologies to the Minister for not being able to join President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker at the summit, due to a commitment with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon following the Special European Council of April 23," reads Mogherini's statement posted on the website of the EU External Action Service.
"I stressed my strong commitment to continue working closely with Ukraine for the stability and prosperity of the country," the EU diplomacy chief said.
