An explosion occurred on the Shepylove-Sentianivka rail line in the Luhansk region, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said.
"On April 25, at 09:00 an on-duty transport police officer at the Popasna station received a report from railroad workers that an explosion was heard under a diesel shunter in an area not controlled by Ukraine at 7:20. Two railroad workers have been injured," the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The explosion occurred during movement of two diesel shunters, one of which derailed.
The railroad workers sustained injuries of varying severity. One of them was taken by paramedics to the Popasna railroad hospital; the other was treated on the spot.
Train service on the rail line has been suspended.
