Over 6,000 people killed in east Ukraine, over 15,000 wounded, 800,000 forced to leave their homes in 2014 – UN

Within one year of the conflict in eastern Ukraine over 6,000 people have been killed and over 15,000 have been wounded, the UN has reported on its Twitter page.

"One year after the conflict began, since April 16, 2014, 6,116 people [have been] killed and almost 15,500 [have been] wounded. [Also], 800,961 Ukrainian citizens claimed refugee status, residence permits, or another status in neighboring states as of April 16," the UN tweeted on Tuesday.

The UN added that during the last week the number of people who have fled eastern Ukraine grew by 15,000 people.
