Ukrainian Defense Ministry to replenish arms stock in 2015
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry plans to buy over 9,500 pieces of weaponry and 1.7 million rounds of ammunition this year, ministry spokesperson Viktoria Kushnir said.
"At present, there are no problems with the delivery of munitions to Armed Forces units deployed to the frontline. Ammunition reserves have been made; they are stored consistent with the norms in the maximal proximity to the combat zone. The reserves are replenished whenever necessary. The acquisition of 1.7 million rounds of ammunition is planned during this year," she said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday morning.
The Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are buying modern armaments and hardware from both domestic and foreign producers, Kushnir said.
"It is planned to procure small arms, thermal imagers and other types of military hardware, in all, approximately 9,500 pieces, in the year 2015," she added.
