Ukraine, Council of Europe will open regional advisory centers for decentralization
Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland and Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko have agreed to cooperate in the process of Ukraine's decentralization.
According to the Council of Europe press service, the agreement achieved during a meeting in Strasbourg on April 17, foresees the opening of regional advisory offices in all 25 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv.
The European Council will appoint one expert for each of these offices, who will have to establish cooperation with local authorities and the civil society, as well as exchange of opinions between local interested parties and the central power in respect of the decentralization reform.
In support of the agreements, the officials signed a joint statement.
Funding for the program will be implemented in the framework of the action plan for Ukraine for 2015-2017.
