Up to 459 Ukrainian soldiers killed near Ilovaisk in 2014 - Ukraine's chief military prosecutor
Investigators have confirmed that 459 Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen and other units that participated in the army operation in Donbas were killed and another 478 were injured in armed clashes outside of Ilovaisk in August-September 2014, Ukraine's Deputy Prosecutor General and Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoliy Matios has said.
"Since our last announcement, the investigation has confirmed with the help of documentary evidence that 459 people were killed and another 478 were injured near Ilovaisk," Matios said in an interview with the censor.net.au website.
He added that damage and losses of military equipment were estimated at over UAH 70 million.
As reported, on March 16, Anatoliy Matios, the deputy prosecutor general and main military prosecutor of Ukraine, has said the investigators had determined that over 360 Ukrainian troops were killed in the fighting near Ilovaisk in August 2014. According to him, up to 180 people were listed as missing.
