The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (OSCE SMM) has reported a humanitarian catastrophe in a number of Donbas areas.
Shop shelves are empty, people have no food and their homes lie in ruins, mission spokesman Michael Bociurkiw told Radio Vesti on Tuesday.
He said the Donetsk airport was the biggest shock to the monitors. The spokesman compared the airport to the Moon and said it showed practically no signs of life and not a single house was spared the damage.
On behalf of the OSCE mission, Bociurkiw called for ceasing fire at least on Easter so that people could at least celebrate that holiday.
