Several MPs call on PGO, SBU to say if corruption was uncovered in interior ministry
A group of MPs have demanded that the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) answer whether any action will be taken in response to the results of the search of the office of Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Chebotar, as they believe evidence of corruption has been uncovered.
MPs Serhiy Kaplin (Petro Poroshenko Bloc), Andriy Illyenko and Yuriy Levchenko (Svoboda) called on the Prosecutor General and the SBU to provide "clear explanations on what's happening in the office of Chebotar, whether materials proving full-scale corruption by the [Interior] Minster, his deputies and his power have been found."
Levchenko said that the SBU had conducted searches of offices in the Interior Ministry, including Chebotar's.
According to him, the materials found prove that the Interior Ministry was concealing corruption.
Kaplin also said that MPs have started to collect signatures calling for an investigative commission to be created and for the dismissal of Arseniy Yatseniuk as Prime Minister. They are also preparing a large rally in front of the Verkhovna Rada on the first day of the next plenary week.
