Guilty officials will face justice regardless of political affiliation - Shokin
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin has said that if officials are guilty of committing crimes, they will be brought to justice regardless of their political affiliation.
"If there are any questions about anyone, we must check everything first, there must be evidence for me to say yes, [we] don't only have questions to this person, he committed certain crimes," Shokin said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"I am not involved in politics, whether it's Opposition Bloc or not – it doesn't matter at all. Thus, if there are not only questions but also proof of guilt that someone from Opposition Bloc or any other political force committed a crime and it's proven, we will react, without a doubt," he said.
According to Shokin, if an MP has committed a crime and there is proof, the Prosecutor General's Office will ask the Verkhovna Rada to revoke parliamentary immunity.
