OSCE monitors confirm no fire targeted them near Shyrokyne on Friday
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) monitors working in Ukraine have said that their patrol vehicles have not been fired in the village of Shyrokyne (Mariupol district, Donetsk region).
"In response to media reports SMM to Ukraine confirms NO fire targeted at our vehicles today in Shyrokyne," SMM said on Twitter on Friday evening.
Previously on Friday, Sector M press officer Oleh Sushynsky said that the monitors came under militants' fire at their observation point in so-called Sector M (Mariupol).
"OSCE monitors were shelled near Shyrokyne at about 3:00 p.m. [local time] today. The mission members were fired upon with firearms, and there was also mortar fire. The monitors were at an operational observation point. The shelling started, and they came under fire," Sushynsky told Interfax.
None of the monitors was harmed in the incident, he said.
