Atambayev, European Parliament president discuss Ukraine
Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev discussed Kyrgyz-EU relations and the situation in Ukraine and Moldova with European Parliament President Martin Schulz on Thursday.
"To my mind, I have managed to reconcile the EU and Russian positions on disputable issues in Ukraine and Moldova a bit, at yesterday's meeting with French President Francois Hollande and today's conversation with Mr. Schulz," Atambayev told reporters at the end of his meeting with Schulz.
The European Parliament president said he had a wonderful meeting with Atambayev which lasted longer than planned.
Schulz said he was impressed by a very profound exchange of opinions and absolutely positive that the meeting would make EU-Kyrgyzstan partnership even more important.
He promised constant support of the European Parliament to Kyrgyzstan and said he was planning to visit that country in the second half of the year.
Kyrgyz President Atambayev is planned to meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Union Council President Donald Tusk on Friday.
