The European Parliament has approved a resolution calling for an independent international investigation into the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, as well as urging for the immediate release of Ukrainian MP Nadia Savchenko.
The resolution, which was supported by the majority MEPs, contains a call to release Ukrainian pilot Savchenko who is currently detained in a Russian prison, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported on Thursday.
The parliamentarians reiterated that Savchenko was kidnapped from Ukraine.
The resolution noted Savchenko's poor health and called on the Russian authorities to apply humanitarian legislation to her case.
The MEPs also called for the release of Estonian police officer Eston Kohver, who was kidnapped in Estonia and is now being held in Russia.
