Optimization of Ukrainian interior agencies to begin soon – Avakov

The optimization of the structure of the interior agencies of Ukraine will begin shortly, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has said.

"It foresees a clear separation of the functions of power-wielding agencies and the civil service center, elimination of responsibility overlap, stripping interior agencies off unusual functions, and preventing the possibility of corrupt schemes from appearing," Avakov said at the presentation of the "100 Days of Government's Work: the Way to Stability", which was posted on the Cabinet of Ministers website.

According to Avakov, the K.O.R.D. unified special unit will be created on the basis of the Interior Ministry's special battalions and units.

In addition, the organized crime department, the transport police and the veterinary police will be eliminated as the result of the coalition agreement.
