Ukrainian newspaper photographer killed in mortar attack near Donetsk
A photographer for a Ukrainian newspaper and a man who volunteered to help him have been killed in a mortar attack near the city of Donetsk, according to social networks.
Serhiy Nikolayev, a photo correspondent for the Segodnya newspaper, and volunteer Mykola Flerko came under mortar fire in the area of the village of Pisky, not far from the Donetsk airport, according to information in the networks.
"The editorial staff of the newspaper Segodnya and the Segodnya.ua website is sorrowful and expresses its deep condolences to the family of [Nikolayev]. Serhiy was an outstanding photographer and dedicated himself completely to his work," Segodnya said in a statement posted on Segodnya.ua.
