Poroshenko asking for military assistance from Washington
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told U.S. Vice President Joe Biden on phone that militants are not observing the ceasefire in Donbas, which is stipulated by Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian press service said.
Poroshenko insisted on taking immediate action to stop the escalation of the crisis and the disruption of the Minsk agreements, it said.
"He also urged the U.S. to put into practice previous statements on providing Ukraine with extra resources to reinforce its defensive capability," it said.
Biden assured Poroshenko of U.S. support for Ukraine and agreed with the Ukrainian president to regularly coordinate actions between Ukraine, the U.S., Germany, and France and also within the UN and OSCE framework.
