Belarus "cautiously optimistic" about Ukraine situation - Foreign Minister Makei
Minsk is cautiously optimistic about further developments in Ukraine following the February 11-12 summit of the Normandy Quartet leaders in the Belarusian capital Minsk, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei has said.
"Our assessments of the events in Ukraine in the run-up to the Normandy Quartet session in Minsk can be described as cautious optimism," he told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.
It is important that "today Minsk is firmly associated with a platform on which the sides are able to reach agreements," he said.
"Minsk is ready to continue to provide a platform for talks in any format aimed at settling the conflict in Ukraine," the Belarusian minister said.
