EU to complete review of sanctions against former Ukrainian state officials by March – Kocijancic
The European Union will complete its review of sanctions against former senior officials of Ukraine, imposed for the misappropriation of state funds and embezzlement, by early March 2015.
This list is under revision now, and will be prepared in early March, said Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, in Brussels on Monday.
However, she refused to say how the review will be conducted.
As reported, the new Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin had said he would do his best to ensure that the sanctions against Viktor Yanukovych and his inner circle would not to be lifted.
Shokin ordered regional prosecutors to urgently achieve a legal and qualitative result in the investigation into criminal proceedings related to the Revolution of Dignity, corruption, and crimes committed by former high-ranking officials.
