EU watching Savchenko trial closely – Mogherini

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has noted the difficulty of helping Ukrainian MP, member of Ukraine's delegation to PACE, Nadia Savchenko, who is being illegally held in Russia.

We stay in touch with the attorneys, our people in the delegation are trying to attend the trials, she said, during her speech at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Mogherini noted that representatives of the EU mission to Russia were constantly following the course of the trial, as well as other trials involving illegally detained individuals.

During the debate on Ukraine, a number of MEPs wore T-shirts with a photo of Ukrainian pilot and the slogan "Free Savchenko!" written on them.
