Minsk still unsure on Feb 10 Normandy format meeting of political advisors
The Belarusian authorities still do not know for sure whether a meeting of the political advisors of the Normandy format (Russia, France, Germany and Ukraine), which is looking for a peaceful solution to the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine, will take place in Minsk on Tuesday.
"We still do not know this for certain. More detailed information may appear in the afternoon today," a Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman told Interfax.
In an interview with Interfax, representatives of the French and German Embassies in Belarus were unable to confirm whether the four states' political advisors would come to Minsk. The diplomatic missions, however, did not rule out that such information could come to light later.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius confirmed on Monday that the political advisors of the Normandy format states would meet in Minsk on February 10.
This meeting should lay the groundwork for a February 11 summit in the Normandy format in the Belarusian capital.
