Germany reports active preparations for summit in Normandy format
A possible summit in the Normandy format tentatively scheduled in Minsk for Wednesday is being actively prepared, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Monday.
"All I can promise is that we will do our utmost to hold the Minsk negotiations on which many are pinning their hopes," he told reporters.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, French President Francois Hollande, German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to meet in the Normandy format in Minsk on February 11.
The sides are expecting their efforts to yield an immediate and unconditional mutual ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.
