Poroshenko may introduce martial law all over Ukraine if Donbas conflict escalates
Kyiv, February 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko may introduce martial law across Ukraine if the conflict in eastern regions escalates.
"If the escalation of the conflict continues, I am ready to declare martial law across the country," the president said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Pais.
The head of state said he hadn't done this yet because it would mean restricting democracy and freedom and would threaten the country's economic development.
