Some 2,500 civilians have been evacuated from Debaltseve, which has turned into the epicenter of the Donbas hostilities in the last few days, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
"A total of 2,500 people, among them 686 children, have been evacuated from Debaltseve," he told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.
