PM Yatseniuk, Polish economist Balcerowicz discuss reforms in Ukraine
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk and Polish economist and politician Leszek Balcerowicz have discussed the implementation of the priority reforms envisaged in the Ukrainian government’s action plan.
Balcerowicz said that Kyiv needed active global assistance in the political, economic and security sectors.
He praised the efforts made by the Ukrainian authorities to stabilize the country’s situation, and in transform the country.
For his part, Yatseniuk said that Ukraine appreciated the international community's solidarity with Kyiv in its struggle for independence, freedom, democracy and a European future.
The premier stressed that progress in the implementation of reforms was vital for Ukraine.
Balcerowicz is the author of the economic transformation program in Poland. He served as the finance minister of Poland in 1989-1991, the vice-prime minister in 1997-2000 and the governor of the National Bank of Poland in 2001-2007.
