Poroshenko expresses gratitude to PACE for supporting Ukraine
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has expressed gratitude to the PACE for adoption of the resolution on Wednesday.
"Grateful to PACE for supporting Ukraine. In particular, for its decision on Nadia Savchenko. United we will win!," the Ukrainian leader tweeted on Wednesday.
As earlier reported, delegates to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Wednesday approved amendment No. 13 to a PACE draft resolution, which "calls upon the Russian authorities to release Ukrainian PACE member Savchenko within 24 hours".
THE assembly also suspended Russia voting rights, and its right to be represented in PACE's leading bodies 'as a clear condemnation of grave violations of international law in Ukraine.
PACE also said it will consider reinstating certain Russian powers at its April session "if Russia has made marked and measurable progress."
