Poroshenko demands Putin abide by Minsk agreements
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has sent a letter to Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, in which he demands the Minsk agreements should be fulfilled and all the hostages, including pilot Nadia Savchenko freed, Poroshenko said in an interview with the Polish TV channel TVN-24.
"The day before yesterday, I sent a letter to President Putin the key element of which was the demand not only to cease fire and fulfill the Minsk agreements, but also to liberate Nadia Savchenko and all the hostages," the Ukrainian presidential website quoted the head of state as saying.
The president recalled that PACE also demanded Savchenko be released, since she had become a delegate to the Assembly.
Poroshenko also noted the sanctions against Russia were efficient.
"We must create conditions to force Russia to participate in the talks and comply with its commitments," the president said.
