Astana calls for peaceful resolution of Ukraine conflict
Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry has expressed profound concern about escalation of the Ukraine conflict, especially the bombardments that took civilian lives.
"We are absolutely positive that there is no alternative to peace negotiations concerning the resolution of the crisis in southeastern Ukraine," the ministry said in a statement posted on Monday.
"We are urging all sides to begin the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict on the basis of the fulfillment of commitments, including those envisaged by the Minsk agreements, by everyone involved," the statement said.
For its part, Kazakhstan is ready to provide a platform for the Ukraine crisis talks "in any format convenient to the sides and at any acceptable time," it noted.
