Ukraine soldiers say they have left Donetsk airport

Ukraine's Azov battalion has reported that its soldiers had to leave their positions at the Donetsk airport.

"Ukrainian soldiers defending the Donetsk airport had to surrender what was an excellent and modern airport only a year ago. The siege continued for 242 days. It is longer than a whole war can last on some occasions. Ukrainian soldiers held the fort in conditions in which it was impossible to defend anything in principle," the Azov battalion said on its Facebook account.

However, there has been no official confirmation of the aforementioned information for Interfax-Ukraine so far.

For his part, the military operation spokesman Leonid Matiukhin said: "I have information just as of 06:00 of Thursday. According to it, the fighting is going on at the airport."
