Political directors of Normandy Quartet start meeting in Berlin
Consultations of the Normandy Quartet of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany at the level of political directors have started in Berlin ahead of a meeting of foreign ministers of the countries later on Wednesday.
An Interfax correspondent reports that the consultations are held behind closed doors at the German Foreign Ministry. Russia is represented by Director of the Second CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Viktor Sorokin.
A German diplomatic source told journalists that the meeting would be purely technical, and no statements for the press would follow it.
"The consultations will be of purely preparatory nature. No resolutions or statements will be adopted at their end. Participants will simply state formulas and technical details," he said.
The ministerial meeting on the Normandy Format is expected to begin in Berlin at 10 p.m. Moscow time.
