Ukrainian army loses two men killed, six wounded over past 24 hours
The Ukrainian army has lost two men killed and six wounded in the Donbas combat zone over the past day, army operation spokesman Andriy Lysenko has said.
"Two Ukrainian military servicemen were killed and six suffered injuries in hostilities in the past 24 hours," Lysenko said at a press briefing on Thursday.
Tensions remain in Donbas and the rate of shooting incidents has grown markedly in the Donetsk, Mariupol and Debaltseve sectors, he said.
According to Lysenko, tensions are the highest in the Donetsk airport zone.
Self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) leader Alexander Zakharchenko said earlier in the day that the militants would take control of the Donetsk airport within hours.
He invited Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to pay a visit to Donetsk airport.
