OSCE representative Mijatovic hopes Ukrainian TV council will fairly investigate Inter TV channel furore
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic has expressed hope that the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine will investigate the furore surrounding Inter television channel in line with the provision of free media, reads a letter of the OSCE representative to the television channel's top managers, a copy of which has been sent to Interfax-Ukraine.
She said that she addressed supervisory agencies in Ukraine calling for a thorough investigation into an attack on a building belonging to the TV channel on January 3, 2015.
Such actions are unacceptable and are a disturbing practice, the safety of journalists and the protection of media structures should be guaranteed at all times, Mijatovic said.
