Ukrzaliznytsia sees UAH 8 bln of loss from passenger transportation in 2014
Ukrainian railways in 2014 cut passenger transportation by 8.9% compared to 2013, over 440 million people passengers, with the loss from the provision of the services (from all types of transportation) exceeded UAH 7.9 billion.
"As in the previous years, a trend of untimely and non-full refunding of railways' expenses on the transportation of passengers with benefits is seen. Last year services worth UAH 582.3 million were provided to passengers with benefits and UAH 165.6 million of compensation was received or 28%. The debt for beneficial transportation in 2014 amounted to UAH 416.7 million," the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported, referring to tentative data.
At present, 25 categories of citizens are eligible for Ukrainian railways discounts.
