Council of Europe finds no evidence of Russian security force presence on Kyiv's Maidan during 2013-2014 protests
The Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) said it had not found any evidence of Russian security forces' presence on Independence Square (Maidan) in the center of Kyiv during the protests there in 2013 and 2014.
The investigation conducted by the Ukrainian authorities was unable either to confirm or deny the accusations or hints received by the CPT delegation, the committee said in a report on Tuesday, analyzing the results of its delegation's visit to Kyiv on February 18-24, 2014.
The committee also asked the Ukrainian authorities to inform it of any progress made in this issue.
