Mogherini: EU to lift sanctions against Russia after full implementation of Minsk agreements
The lifting of sanctions against Russia will depend on Moscow's actions, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Federica Mogherini said after a meeting with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics in Riga on Thursday.
She said that the term of part of anti-Russian sanctions would expire in March. Although it is premature to talk about its extension or non-extension, this will still depend on Russia's actions and the situation in Ukraine, she said.
"What I can for sure say - as it has always been the case - is that it will depend on the situation on the ground. If, and when, all Minsk points would be delivered, then for sure we won't have sanctions any more. But we are far from that," Mogherini said.
