PM: Over 800,000 internally displaced persons registered in Ukraine
More than 800,000 internally displaced persons from Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions have been registered in Ukraine, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.
"Over 800,000 Ukrainians have been registered as internally displaced persons," he said at an annual press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The government allots "billions of hryvnias" for social allowances, pensions and salaries for these people, the prime minister said.
According to Yatseniuk, the Ukrainian economy has contracted by 20% because of Russia's military aggression in the east and Crimea's annexation by Russia.
