Poroshenko introduces new Lviv region governor
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has introduced the new chief of Lviv regional state administration, Oleh Syniutka.
He said that one of the main tasks facing the new Lviv governor is to attract investment into region's economy, as well as to facilitate procedures for conducting business.
The president said that the new governor must establish good relations with the regional council, and stressed that the doors of the president's administration are always open for Syniutka, adding that a previous governor of the region remains in Syniutka's team.
Syniutka, in turn, said that his team will face new tasks, first of all, those related to the war in the east.
"We're responsible for the destiny of the whole of Ukraine. If we don't struggle in the east, then Russian mercenaries will knock on the doors of our houses," he stressed.
Poroshenko went on to say that the outgoing year was one of the most difficult in Ukraine’s history since 1945.
However, the head of state noted that in the past year Ukraine had witnessed such remarkable events as signing of the Association Agreement with EU, one of the most fair presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine’s history, as well as the revocation of Ukraine non-aligned status.
