Reform of the State Automobile Inspectorate and the transformation of the patrol service into the patrol police will begin in Kyiv from January 20, 2015, an advisor to the interior minister, Zorian Shkiriak, has said.
"The restructuring of the State Automobile Inspectorate and the patrol service into a single patrol police force of Ukraine will begin in Kyiv on January 20," the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers quoted him as saying.
Shkiriak said that it was not an experiment, but the beginning of reform.
He said that the changes would include the improved appearance of the patrol police, and that they would become much more effective.
He also said that the process of professional selection will be applied with considerable principle.
According to Shkiriak, reforms will be carried out in cities with a population of over a million people after Kyiv, and then will be rolled out across the country.
