Crimean govt suspects political motivation in Ukrainian power supply limits
Limitations on electric power supply from Ukraine may have political reasons, Crimean Vice Premier Dmitry Polonsky said.
"Crimea has no electricity debts to Ukraine, we honor every commitment of ours and our payments are full. Ukraine does not have economic or legal reasons to cut the supply. Obviously, the reason is political," Polonsky told reporters in Simferopol on Thursday.
Ukraine reduced electric power supply to Crimea in late October to approximately 400 megawatt, a half of the summer supply volume.
Ukraine abruptly discontinued power supply to Crimea without a warning on Wednesday. The supply was partially restored later on. Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said the national energy authorities tightened control over electricity consumption limits on December 24, which temporarily cut off power supply to the Crimean Peninsula.
