Australia to provide financial assistance to Ukraine
An agreement on financial assistance to Ukraine was reached during a recent state visit by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Australia, Valeriy Chaly, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, said.
"There are some economic results. Many of them will be manifested later, but what we can say now is $100 million [will be provided] from Australia through the IMF in Ukraine's support and over $2 million [will be provided] to our National Guard and army to cover their current needs," he told a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
Chaly also said Australia is prepared to help Ukraine with energy security. "In Australia, they discussed uranium supplies. You know that Australia has discontinued uranium supplies to Russia and we are now talking about diversification of uranium supplies to Ukraine," he said.
