Lithuania starts buying ammunition for Ukraine, say media
The Defense Ministry of Lithuania has signed a large contract for purchase of ammunition worth some LTL 50 million or some $17.8 million, Radio Svoboda reported on Saturday.
Cartridges for G36 assault rifles, 120 mm mortar and Carl Gustav recoilless rifle will be purchased.
"Some of the ammunition has arrived to the warehouses of the Defense Ministry and the rest of the ammunition is to arrive by the end of the year," reads the report.
Earlier Lithuania promised that the country will supply lethal weapon and ammunition to Ukraine. This was announced during a visit of Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite to Ukraine.
