OSCE calls on world to prevent new division of Europe into hostile camps
Events in Ukraine have sparked a global security crisis, and now the international community needs to prevent a new division of Europe into hostile camps, Swiss President and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Didier Burkhalter has said.
While opening an OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Basel on Thursday, he said that this year was not the most common year to the OSCE and that the security situation in Europe had worsened.
Burkhalter noted that the Ukrainian crisis had sparked a more global crisis in global security.
He called on politicians in this situation to prevent a new division of Europe into camps.
Burkhalter said that the situation in eastern Ukraine remained difficult.
He said that the ceasefire agreement had not been consolidated and that the process of political settlement was not going on.
