Ukraine's first regional office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has been opened in Lviv, the press service of Lviv City Council has said.
First Vice President of the EBRD Philip Bennett, Director of the Small Business Support team at the EBRD Charlotte Ruhe, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Francis Malige, EBRD Director for Ukraine Sevki Acuner and other bank representatives participated in the opening of the office.
The press service of Lviv City Council said, with reference to EBRD Principal Adviser for External Affairs Anton Usov, that initially the regional office would deal only with the implementation of programs related to supporting small and medium businesses, but over time the office will function as a full EBRD office.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy considers that the opening of the EBRD office will enable entrepreneurs to obtain direct access to European finance.
